Data integration of 526 nature conservation areas in Rhineland-Palatinate

There are 526 nature reserves in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The project, funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Nature and Environment Foundation and financed by Glücksspirale, aims to digitize the areas and guidelines for behaviour in nature reserves and make them available on the Digitize the Planet platform.

We are now working together in 5 federal states at ministry level/state office for the environment. The authorities rely on our standard and support the integration of data at federal state level. Thanks to the funding, this is now also the case in Rhineland-Palatinate.

With the funding of 34084 € from the Rhineland-Palatinate Nature and Environment Foundation, the DtP team will be able to integrate the data within a very short time. On completion of the project, the platform account will be handed over to the responsible authorities for future support and data maintenance.

Jochen Krebühl, Managing Director of the foundation, emphasizes:
“The data from Digitize the Planet is an important part of informing visitors and sportspeople in nature about the rules of conduct and thus helping to protect biodiversity.”

This collaboration demonstrates how outsourcing data integration to external players, in this case our association, can be an effective solution for making nature conservation data digitally available quickly.
