With a route based on official nature conservation information, the tourism association can, for example, prevent its guests from entering breeding areas, winter resting zones, private property or other sensitive areas or temporarily closed routes.
Tourists and guests have a very high level of trust in the digital content of the destination management organisation (DMO) and assume that the published tours are also very well researched, nature conservation compliant and therefore sustainable and legally compliant.
In some regions, tourists are travelling the wrong way and this leads to conflicts with locals and other local stakeholders.
With high-quality content, guests are travelling in accordance with the rules and tourism acceptance can be significantly increased.
The basis for such a high-quality tour offer or content is that the respective tourism association or destination management organisation (DMO) uses a tour platform or map application that integrates the data from Digitize the Planet as the basis for its digital offer.
The high level of trust in the DMO’s digital content in terms of routing, timeliness and nature conservation compliance ensures that guests can, for example, cycle or hike with a ‘clear conscience’ and do not come into conflict with, for example, forestry, hunting, nature conservation and landowners.
In many cases, the tourism association acts as a mediator between the various interest groups such as forestry, hunting, nature conservation, service providers, sports organisations, landowners, etc. with regard to visitor management.
By utilising and disseminating the official nature conservation information from DtP, the tourism association underpins its strategically important position.
Only a comprehensive and professional preparation of all information for tour planning, including rules of conduct, conservation purpose, etc., will turn the tour into an experience for the guest and thus into a sustainable holiday experience, also in terms of nature conservation.
