We are delighted to welcome the Swiss National Park as a new member of our network!

The park is a strictly protected wilderness area where animals and plants can develop freely, and natural processes unfold without human interference. Founded in 1914, it is not only the oldest national park in the Alps but also a remarkable symbol of long-term nature conservation and scientific research. Together with the regional nature park Biosfera Val Müstair and parts of the municipality of Scuol, it forms the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Engiadina Val Müstair – a unique example of the balance between protection, research, and sustainable development.

By joining Digitize the Planet, the Swiss National Park reinforces its commitment to digital innovation in nature conservation – promoting awareness, sustainable visitor management, and respect for fragile ecosystems.

Samuel Wiesmann, Head of Geoinformation and ICT, says: “We are pleased to support the association so that it can continue to pursue its cross-border goals in the future – goals that make our work in protected area management significantly easier.”
