Ministry of the Environment Baden-Württemberg focuses on Digitize the Planet

Mitglied Umweltministerium Baden-Würrtemberg I Digitize the Planet

Welcome to the Association, Baden-Württemberg

For several years, the association has been working closely with the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy, as well as the regional councils in Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Tübingen.

Baden-Württemberg is also one of the first federal states to have fully integrated its protected area information relating to nature reserves into the Digitize Platform.

We are delighted that the ministry’s membership in the association underscores the importance of our work and that it will be relying on our data standard in the future.

Statement by Baden-Württemberg, Environment Minister Thekla Walker

“Nature-friendly tourism is an important tool for nature conservation. When people spend time in nature, they get to know and appreciate it, and they also become committed to its preservation. It is important that hikers and other recreation seekers can quickly see where they need to be particularly considerate of nature. As the Ministry of the Environment, we make our data on protected areas available for use in outdoor and navigation apps. Digitize the Planet works with nature conservation authorities to prepare this data in such a way that it is immediately clear what the correct behavior is in protected areas. This benefits nature and provides guidance for people.”
