Harz National Park – Wilderness in the heart of Germany
The Harz National Park is one of Germany’s largest forest reserves, covering around 250 square kilometers in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. Under the motto “Let nature be nature,” true wilderness is being restored here in the middle of Germany: Extensive forests, primeval moors, clear streams, and the majestic Brocken with its harsh climate and naturally treeless summit provide habitat for more than 10,000 animal and plant species, including many rare and endangered ones. Visitors can discover this unique and legendary mountain wilderness and experience how nature unfolds according to its own laws on over 600 kilometers of signposted trails and numerous nature experience offerings.
