Five years of intensive organizational cooperation with authorities, protected area administrations, and partner organizations are paying off:
In the central protected area categories of nature reserves, national parks, nature parks, biosphere reserves, and forest wildlife sanctuaries, 42% of the areas are now integrated into the Digitize platform and are maintained directly by the responsible administrations.
Together, we are thus laying the foundation for making nature experiences and nature conservation compatible with each other. Outdoor activities should be able to take place wherever they are permitted and compatible with nature – in a clear, transparent, and up-to-date manner.
Our goal: Complete coverage by 2026
By 2026, we want to map 100% of the protected areas in these categories on the platform.
This means:
Consistent, legally binding information for outdoor enthusiasts
Greater protection for sensitive natural areas
Fewer conflicts due to misunderstandings or outdated regulatory information
A reliable basis for sustainable nature tourism and outdoor sports
Why we need support
Digitize the Planet e. V. is financed through membership fees, grants, and project partnerships.
In order to reliably maintain the existing data quality, technical infrastructure, and support for our partners from 2026 onwards, we need €80,000 in additional funding.
Working together for nature-friendly leisure activities
We invite organizations, companies, administrations, and committed individuals to support us through:
Project collaborations
Organizational memberships
